Four decades ago, William Emerson made a significant discovery that revolutionized his work with adults and enabled him to develop pre- and peri=natal (PPN) treatment methods for babies and children. These discoveries and practices became one of his major legacies in the field of PPN.

William will describe how he discovered and developed his methods, and outline a basic, non-invasive, and gentle approach called birth-pathway presence (BPP1). BPP1 has been learned and used by trauma practitioners such as cranio-sacral, somatic experiencing, osteopathic, chiropractic, psychotherapeutic, bodynamic, feldenkreis, kinesthesology, deep tissue, EMD, and massage therapists.

William Emersonwill also review the incidence of birth trauma for mothers and babies, andtreatment methods for each.

About Dr. William Emerson

Dr. William R. EmersonĀ is a renowned workshop leader, writer, lecturer, and pioneer in the field of pre- and perinatal psychology. He is among the first in the world to develop prenatal and perinatal treatment methods for infants and children, is an expert in treatment methods for adults, and is recognized internationally for his contributions.

Dr. Emerson practiced psychotherapy for 25 years, specializing in psychotherapy and regression treatment for infants, children, and adults, and lectured domestically and internationally on these topics. He has held university appointments as Honorary Faculty, Director of Clinical Training, International Lecturer, and Assistant Professor of Psychology, and received an honorary fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health in acknowledgment of his contributions to psychology. Along the way, Dr. Emerson has authored five books, co-authored Remembering Our Home, published numerous chapters and journal articles in our field, and wrote and produced four video programs. Now retired from his practice, he is currently on spirit and soul wounding, as well as about the dark side of childbirth, and conducting open workshops and training programs in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
